Anal Sac Adenocarcinoma; A Hidden Cancer

چکیده

Tumours of the perianal region occur frequently in dogs (Bennett et al. 2002), with benign adenomas comprising 5896% of tumours at this site (Turek & Withrow 2013). In some cases these may transform to become malignant perianal adenocarcinomas, and these need to be distinguished from adenocarcinomas which derive from the apocrine secretory epithelium within the wall of the anal sacs (Polton & Brearley 2007). Neoplasia of the squamous epithelial lining of the anal sac is uncommon (Polton et al. 2006; Mellett et al. 2014). Anal gland/sac adenocarcinomas (ASA) represent 2% of all skin and subcutaneous tumours in dogs, and around 17% of all perianal malignancies (Bennett et al. 2002; Turek & Withrow 2013; Potanas et al. 2015). They are clinically important because of their high metastatic potential and association with paraneoplastic hypercalcaemia; this review will therefore focus on this tumour type (Polton et al. 2006.; Wouda et al. 2013).

Metastatic anal sac carcinoma with hypercalcaemia and associated hypertrophic osteopathy in a dog

A seven-year-old male neutered Irish setter was treated for a metastatic anal sac adenocarcinoma (ASAC) and hypercalcaemia by complete surgical excision of the primary tumour and partial excision of the sublumbar lymph nodes. Further enlargement of the sublumbar lymph nodes was linked to recurrent hypercalcaemia 3 months after surgical treatment. Medical treatment with Toceranib and Clodronate ...

A case of metastatic carcinoma of anal fistula caused by implantation from rectal cancer

This case involved an 80-year-old man who was seen for melena. Further testing revealed a tubular adenocarcinoma 50 mm in size in the rectum. In addition, an anal fistula was noted behind the anus along with induration. A biopsy of tissue from the external (secondary) opening of the fistula also revealed adenocarcinoma. Nodules suspected of being metastases were noted in both lung fields. The p...

Anal metastasis of rectal cancer—adenocarcinoma of squamous cells: a case report and literature review

Anal metastasis of colorectal cancer is very rare and is usually associated with a history of anal disease, including anal fistula, fissure, hemorrhoidectomy, and anastomotic injury. We report a case of rectal cancer with a synchronous anal metastasis consisting of adenocarcinoma of squamous cells without a history of anal disease. A 60-year-old woman had a chief complaint of melena. She had a ...

Indirect Computed Tomographic Lymphography for Iliosacral Lymphatic Mapping in a Cohort of Dogs with Anal Sac Gland Adenocarcinoma: Technique Description.

Sentinel lymph node mapping can help to direct surgical oncologic staging and metastatic disease detection in patients with complex lymphatic pathways. We hypothesized that indirect computed tomographic lymphography (ICTL) with a water-soluble iodinated contrast agent would successfully map lymphatic pathways of the iliosacral lymphatic center in dogs with anal sac gland carcinoma, providing a ...

Anal duct carcinoma: report of case and a survey of the experience of the American Osteopathic College of Proctology.

Anal duct carcinoma, also known as anal gland carcinoma or adenocarcinoma of the anal canal, is an unusual anal cancer that accounts for approximately 0.1% of all gastrointestinal cancers. Delays in diagnosis most likely account for the poor prognosis associated with this cancer. Presenting symptoms often mimic those of more common benign anorectal pathologic processes. Multimodality treatment ...
